Residential Care and Independent Living
Supporting children and young people with extreme to complex needs and challenging behaviours, to enhance their life and social opportunities, manage complex behaviours, connect with formal and informal support networks and develop positive relationships. Support is provided within a residential setting that allows for appropriate individual therapeutic care and interventions.
This service works with people from an understanding that past traumas, grief and loss can impact on their current life. Support is provided on a one on one and two on one basis or as an independent living model with two to four young people within one residence.
Services for children and young people works in collaboration with other services to ensure that the children and young people are connected to appropriate supports. These partners include:
- The Department of Child Safety
- Disability Services
- Education Queensland
- Evolve
- Laurel House
- HOPE and other relevant Indigenous entities
- Independent counsellors and practitioners
Respite Services
This service has highly skilled staff that specialise in working with children and young people who have disabilities, challenging behaviours and/or dual diagnosis. This service offers respite that provides carers, families and other services, with experienced support staff to assist them with caring for their children and young people, both within the home and the community.
Crisis Intervention
This service provides crisis intervention to children and young people with challenging behaviours and complex needs, where their placement has broken down or intensive behaviour support and management is required. This arrangement is usually short-term in nature providing intensive behaviour support to families, carers, schools and other services, with the aim of working in partnership with others to assist the child or young person within their current environment.
Fee for Service
All services provided by Link In Services for Children and Young People can be utilised through specialised funding arrangements, such as referrals through the Department of Child Safety or Commonwealth Respite Carers, or paid for individually through fee for service arrangements. Costs for these services can be obtained through the Link In intake process.
Staffing Provision
Services for Children and Young People provides specialised and experienced staff for other support agencies. This enables other support agencies to provide therapeutic care for their service users. Link In’s Services for Children and Young People chooses to work collaboratively and effectively with other services and programs within the local community, to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people in need.
Intensive Behaviour Support
This service is an outreach service designed to support children and young people with challenging behaviour in a range of settings such as:
- Home
- The Workplace
- School
- TAFE
- Other Education Centres
- Vocational Learning Centres
This service arrangement can be short or long term and tailored to meet the individual needs of the young person. Behaviour support plans can be developed by one of our qualified staff. Families can be supported through this process.
