Link In was founded in 1993 to provide individualised support in accommodation for adults with psychiatric disability.
Not only has the organisation continued to provide support to adults with psychiatric disability, it has also expanded
to include:
-
Individual case management support to adults who have a diagnosed mental illness;
-
Support and therapeutic services to children and young people in the state's child protection system who experience complex and extreme needs due to severe abuse and neglect; and
-
Support and therapeutic services to adults who have dual diagnosis, an intellectual disability and who require high and complex support.
Mission Statement - Link In supports individuals who have a disability to maximise life opportunities.
Values -
-
All people are treated respectfully;
-
Each person has the right to choose his/her own life style;
-
Each person has the right to opportunities and resources which will assist in the development of a chosen life style;
-
Each person has the 'rights to have rights' in line with those available to other Australian citizens.
Vision -
-
All people, including those with disability should be able to live in stable, decent, affordable and accessible housing of their own choice;
-
To ensure this choice, Link In offers support directed towards assisting persons with disability to develop and maintain suitable arrangements, so that the conditions of everyday life are the same as, or as close as possible to, norms and patterns available to people in the general community;
-
Link In believes that for the promotion of understanding, acceptance, and best lifestyle for its target group in the community, Link In should join with other service providers and community and government agencies to form supportive relationships, maximise resource use and take part in community consultation and education;
-
Link In also believes that the inclusion of service users in decision making about their service is vital to their empowerment and a demonstration to the community of the viability of the organisation.
