Link In was founded in 1993 to provide individualised support in accommodation for adults with psychiatric disability.
The organisation has grown significantly since then and is expected to provide over 280,000 support hours in the 2007-2008 year. Not only has the organisation continued to provide support to adults with psychiatric disability it has also expanded
to include:

• Individual case management support to adults who have a diagnosed mental illness;
• Support and therapeutic services to children and young people in the state’s child protection system who experience complex and extreme needs due to severe abuse and neglect; and
• Support and therapeutic services to adults who have dual diagnosis, an intellectual disability and / or challenging behaviours.

Link In is now recognised as a significant service provider of both clinical and non-clinical service throughout the state of Queensland. Principles drawn from the recovery model of intervention and support now underpin all services provided by Link In.

 

 

 

Vision - That individuals supported by Link In can optimise their potential to adapt to the challenges of living within, and as a valued part of their community.

Mission - To provide services that support children, young people and adults to maximise their life opportunities.

Purpose -
The delivery of high quality support and therapeutic services for (a) children and young people within the child protection system; (b) for adults who experience psychiatric disability, dual diagnosis and / or complex and extreme needs.

Values -
1. Link In provides services in which the total environment, including the physical setting, the other clients and the staff are part of the treatment;
2. The ultimate goals of Link In are the recovery (establishment or re-establishment) of normal roles in the community, development of a personal support network and increased quality of life;
3. All people have the capacity to learn and grow;
4. People have the right to direct their own affairs, including the services they receive, related to their disability;


 

 

5. All people are to be treated with respect, dignity and with a conscious and consistent effort to eliminate labelling or discrimination of any type, including discrimination based on disabling conditions;
6. Link In staff members recognise and appreciate culture and /or ethnicity as a source of strength and enrichment to the person and the services and play an important role in a person's recovery;
7. Link In interventions build on the strengths of each person and facilitate the process of recovery and the integration or reintegration into community life;
